Why event schema matters
Google has a dedicated event search experience. With proper schema, your event can appear in event-specific carousels, "Events near me" results, and Google Discover feeds. Without schema, your event is just a generic page Google has to interpret.
Frequently asked questions
Should I include time zones?
Yes for international audiences. Add timezone suffix (e.g., 2026-06-15T09:00+02:00). Without timezone, Google assumes local time of the location.
Online or in-person events?
Schema supports both. Use eventAttendanceMode to specify. Hybrid events can list both location and a virtual URL.
Will Google show my event in search?
Possible but not guaranteed. Events compete for limited carousel space. Make sure schema is complete and the page is high-quality.
What if my event has multiple sessions?
Mark up each session as its own Event, or use SubEvent inside a main event. Most generators handle main event only.
How long before the event should I publish?
As early as possible. Google indexes events ahead of time; the more notice, the better the discovery.
