How FAQ schema helps your SEO
When you mark up your FAQ section, Google can pull individual questions into search results, expanding your listing real estate. People see your answers without clicking — which builds trust — and when they do click, they already know what you offer.
Two best practices that matter
- Only mark up FAQs that actually exist on the page. Google forbids hidden FAQs marked up via schema. The visible HTML must contain the same questions and answers.
- Keep answers helpful, not salesy. Google rewards FAQs that genuinely answer the question. Promotional language reduces the chance of getting rich results.
Frequently asked questions
Where on my site should I add FAQ schema?
On the page where the FAQ is visibly displayed. Usually a dedicated FAQ page, or a product/service page with an FAQ section.
How many questions can I add?
No strict limit, but practically 4–8 questions is the sweet spot. Too few may not be useful, too many dilutes attention.
Will Google show my FAQs in rich results?
Maybe. Google decides based on quality, relevance and competition. In recent years they show FAQs less often than they used to.
Do all FAQs need the same schema?
One FAQPage schema per page is enough, containing all questions from that page.
What if my answer contains HTML?
You can include simple HTML like links, paragraphs, lists. Avoid scripts. Most generators including this one strip HTML for safety; add it manually if needed.
