Google shows roughly 155–160 characters of your meta description on desktop. Mobile sometimes shows less (~120). Anything beyond gets cut off mid-sentence.
The ideal length zone
- Below 110 chars: Probably under-using the space.
- 110–160 chars: Sweet spot. Full snippet shown.
- 160–175 chars: Borderline. Sometimes truncated on mobile.
- Over 175 chars: Will be truncated on desktop too.
